Please note: these coins are either PCGS or NGC graded as MS63 condition and will be from years of our choice, all 1849-1854.
The United States Mint produced $1 Gold Liberty Coins from 1849-1889. However, due to multiple design revisions during its 40 year mintage, three different versions of the coin were released: the original (Type I), the 1854 revision (Type II) and the 1856 revision (Type III). This particular $1 Liberty Gold Coin was classified as one of originals or Type I coins, which circulated between 1849 and 1854. It has a gold content of approximately .048375 troy oz.
All the type 1 coins featured in this collection have received an MS63 (Mint State 63) grade by either the NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation) or the PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service). Coins graded with this mint state possess an acceptable condition with only slight scuffing due to hairline and contact marks. To maintain their official MS grade, every coin has been kept in their individually sealed NGC or PCGS certified slab.
The initial artwork for the front of the $1 Liberty Gold Coin was created by James B. Longacre. His design, which became known as the “Coronet”, features Lady Liberty with an inscribed crown adorning her hair. Surrounding her profile is a ring of 13 stars to represent each of the original colonies. Longacre modeled his design after ancient Greek and Roman currency.
The back of the coin was designed as a tribute to the agricultural industry of that era. Engraved at the top of the coin is our nation’s name. In the center of the coin is its denomination and mintage date. The open wreath, which encircles this information, serves a token of appreciation to the many contributions made by the farmers of this country.
With its rich history and high investment value, this $1 Liberty Gold Coin has become a favorite among investors and collectors alike. Due to its limited availability, customers are encouraged to procure theirs while supplies are still available. As a courtesy to our customers, we provide tracking and insurance at no added cost for all packages.
